In an earlier post I mentioned the ‘next generation’, so to speak, of podcasting. Live Video(and audio of course). YouTube announced they would add this feature by the end of 2008. . .though other websites like Ustream, Stickam, and Qik are already doing this. . .and very well I must say.
In that post I talk about my first experience in live podcasting. . .but more and more I hear about others doing this too. Digg’s Townhall Meetings, Justin/iJustine, Chris Pirillo, and Leo Laporte are great examples showing that it is possible.
As I type this up I am also watching Kevin Rose and Robert Scoble streaming live on Qik from Nokia N95 phones. Kevin has something like 500-600 viewers. . .within 10-15 minutes.(Twitter). The quality isn’t quite what it should be, but it does look better when they’re on WiFi.
For the past 2-3 weeks Leo has been talking about doing a new ’show’. He’s setting up the basement with multiple cameras, which of course will all stream live 24/7. He’s talked about taking live calls, faxes, emails and interviews with major players in the tech industry via Skype. How awesome is that?
With companies like Revision3 and ChannelFlip taking podcasts to the next level. This is a good sign of what is to come from all content creators.
