you know, in today’s digg outage they did some changes, now the shout notifications include the actual shout, which makes the whole thing so much more bearable. i like being able to shout on +rare+ occasions, so i don’t want to be bogus & disallow from everyone else. this totally helps, i can tell from the email whether it’s something i feel motivated to do something about, or not …

As I really dont have many friends on Digg, this isnt an issue for me. However I can easily see how this would be a problem. Im on board with Four20 here - thats why I have other profiles and user names listed on Digg/Pownce. Contact me that way…. I think I would rather hear about a Digg story via IM or Email anyways, not so much with shouts.

That’s my deal. . .I am an active Digg user. I at least read through the summary and headline of each story my friends submit(as well). I don’t need to be shouted.

@dotlizard I can only imagine how bad it is if you get an email for each one.

i am almost there. i still allow shouts because i want to be able to send them when it strikes my fancy to do so — which is to say, rarely, but it does happen. but lately, there are some folks that are seriously over-shouting, sometimes i lose count, they just holler and holler all freakin’ day long. and since i go through and digg all my friends’ stories that i find interesting, there’s really no need to shout me unless it’s something i wouldn’t otherwise see.

dunno. want to be neighborly, but in the last 1.5 months, the Digg folder of my email has accumulated almost 2500 emails, which are shouts & people adding me, but mostly shouts. that is a bit much, isn’t it?

now i’m going to go clean that folder. seriously.
