Could Twitter be the Next Facebook?
And I always thought the ‘Facebook Apps’ would be able to prevent something like this. I can only guess that Facebook isn’t doing something the masses wants. . .or maybe Facebook is doing something the masses don’t want.
If you’ve been under a rock for the last year then you probably have no idea what Twitter is. Twitter has proven to be a powerful tool for the social media audience. Being able to instantly talk to and stay updated with thousands upon thousands of people all at one time.
I never got into the whole Myspace/Facebook craze. . .but I got addicted to Twitter. . .and fast too.
Don’t get me wrong, I do have a Myspace page. . .and yes it uses the standard template with no music playing. I also have a Facebook page. . .and no I don’t flood people with zombie/vampire bites.
Lucky for Facebook and Myspace that they don’t depend on me for success :p
More and more people are getting into the ‘Twitter Scene’(which makes me wonder just how many members they have). It will be interesting to watch the future of Twitter and see how big a simple concept can get.
Gary Vaynerchuk talked about this same topic about two weeks ago. He has noticed people are spending more time on Twitter(compared to Facebook). He says Facebook isn’t dead. . .but maybe it’s stepping down as the internet’s ‘place to be’.

i don’t think of Twitter as the next anything — Twitter is Twitter, it has an elegant sort of simplicity that makes it very powerful. Facebook still confuses and confounds me every time i log in and see my ‘friends’ want me to join or play some … thing that sounds very annoying. i occasionally go there and fool around a little but but i would never spend any extended amount of time with either FB or myspace — or join in any of their silly reindeer games — however i have no problem spending entire days with the twhirl window open, enjoying the simple pleasure of keeping up with everyone in 140 character increments. it is twitter’s brevity that makes it tolerable to join ‘teams’ and play games there, it’s very non-intrusive and fun.
So, Twitter is no Facebook. it’s like, way, way better.

I’m pretty much like you. Have Facebook and MySpace pages but rarely doing much with them. I think Twitter is catching on so fast because its so simple. How many services out there can you fully interact with using a base model or prepaid cell phone. Plus the message size limit makes it feel like your having a real conversation and not writing long letters or essays. Too bad Yahoo! didn’t catch on with that with its 360 Blast message. Oh well, 20/20.
In simple terms, Twitter may not be the prettiest girl at prom, but she is the one you know will put out lol.

@dotlizard people tend to have one place that they like to spend most of their time(while they’re online). before i heard a lot about facebook. . .now it’s all about twitter
@mtony75 i agree, twitter is so simple. and at first i was like ‘it’s too simple to be useful’, but then I drank the kool-aid like everyone else
