This is the big debate. Should you go with Personal Branding or should you go with Business Branding? Most people find business branding to be easier. . .but some say it benefits you less than personal branding.

Business Branding is less personal. You’re kind of hiding behind a brand name. . .doing the work. . .and not getting much ‘direct benefits’. But you can bring in more people, expanding not only the style of content. . .but the amount of content as well. But to most readers, you don’t get much credit for the content. When they think about the content, the brand name comes to their mind. . .not the author/developer. Yes me and you know that Mark Zuckerberg created Facebook. . .but the majority of the members don’t know, or care.

I know the name ‘Web 2.0 Branding’ sounds odd, but in technical terms, it’s true. When the bubble first popped a lot of brand names on the internet died. Leaving a lot of people with no jobs, and to the internet world, not much credibility.

Personal Branding has been around for a while, but just became big over the past 5-10 years. Imagine where your blog would be now if you started it 2-3 years earlier. Imagine how much easier your projects would have been if you had a well established blog to help launch them. The people who regularly read your blog are best people in the world. . .and if you do your job well, they will be with you until the end.

Here is a video from a blog by Gary Vaynerchuk that will not only help you pick which style of branding to go with. . .but will also show you the value in putting more into whichever brand you choose.
