Some would argue that FriendFeed and Socialthing are two completely different types of web services. I do understand that they are technically doing things different. . .but the end result is the same. I take ’streams’ from other websites, and condense them into one universal ’stream’.

Now when two websites essentially do the same thing, which one do I pick? The one that looks better. I personally like the design Socialthing went with. It just looks cleaner to me. . .it’s easier to scan and read the feeds, at least to me.

There has been a huge buzz around FriendFeed lately though. . .I understand that FriendFeed is open to the public and Socialthing is still invite only. But it’s like Gmail, who couldn’t get a gmail invite? With someone as well known as Robert Scoble backing FriendFeed. . .I think Kevin Rose or Gary Vaynerchuk(sorry Mu) needs to start supporting Socialthing.

I think Socialthing has just gotten off to a slow start. I don’t think they thought they would be getting this much attention so quickly. I read they were featured on TechCrunch, which ended up killing their servers. I do know they support ‘less services’ to put into your feed. . .but that is something they are working on(again due to the attention they didn’t think they would get so quickly). But maybe this is good for Socialthing. . .let FriendFeed get a lot of the initial buzz. . .and hopefully come back to release a major update(and go public).

Update - Thanks Matt(a founder of Socialthing). . .for responding. As it happens Kevin and Gary are actually fans of Socialthing(I totally didn’t know this). Check out this video where they talk about in the beginning of this video. . .
