@Matt, thanks for taking the time and responding here. I was bringing up the 3 day outage Twitter recently had(not Socialthing). I know there were some issues when Socialthing was featured on TechCrunch(but no 3 day issue).

That is awesome that they support you guys.

It does seem Socialthing is to FriendFeed. . .as. . .Pownce is to Twitter. Not that this is a bad thing, it's all about the community anyways.

Hey guys, wanted to toss a quick note up here to respond to some of the questions (this is Matt, one of the founders Socialthing!)

1. We have never had a 3 day outage. The longest full-on outage we had was about a 6 hour period and it was because of a problem that our web host had. They had a router fail on them, which caused our fetching mechanisms to time out, and thus, caused the site to go down. Otherwise, we occasionally have errors fetching from the sites. This typically isn't a problem with us, but rather, is an issue with the service's API.

2. We are working on a new infrastructure that will change the way we call sites, and thus, make our processes much more reliable. Beyond that, we also did it so that we can integrate sites in a very rapid succession.

3. @Four20, did you know that Kevin and Gary V are big fans of ours? I wasn't sure...esp because you said that if Scoble will support FriendFeed, they should support us... Check out http://qik.com/video/52788

@Ryan Twitter's 3 day outages were bad. i wish they would put in small adverts just so they could afford to get things worked out

@pepster Socialthing is working on adding a whole bunch more services to add. . .they just seem to be taking their time

I use both services and feel that friendfeed offers more than what Socialthing! does but like you said the usability on socialthing is more user friendly and I therefore end up on socialthing more often than not!! but it does kill my safari session a lot :(

but yes it definitely has a lot to gain!!! open it up you guys if you are listening and open up the service to other sites like jaiku etc...

I am a user of Socialthing, and I understand they got hit with so many people and weren't prepared for it. Look at Twitter, they had over a year to deal with issues and they still have 3 day outages. Like you said, I prefer the look of Socialthing and I'm just going to wait for them to get even better. Oh and if anyone needs an invite, let me know I think I have 14.
