The timing of this article is impeccable. I've been a member of Digg for over 2 years but recently deleted my RSS feed link in Firefox. I'm done with Digg. It used to be a haven for tech news junkies with a better refresh rate than Slashdot, but now it's nothing but top-10 lists and American politics. The site has completely alienated me and I won't miss it.

I really don't think that anybody should really be blaming Kevin Rose for any of this. Unfortunately for tech geeks the majority of the internet population is more interested in basement cat.

Besides I do not think that Digg's userbase was really all about technology. I think it has been much more about social networking geeks. Who just so happen to be really interested in basement cat right now. So if we really want to change the direction Digg is going we really have nobody else to blame but ourselves.

The tech in digg has long gone, it is now inhabited by 14 yr olds and lolcats and unless they do something about it shortly then I would expect to see a large decline in the more tech savvy populus.
