quickfire

Today the Quickfire launches and I must say that I think this looks a LOT better than HTC’s G1 phone. I’m not a fan of the ’swizzle screen’ that reveals the keyboard for the G1. I would have been much happier with it sliding out like AT&T’s Quickfire.

I mean it’s not horrible or anything. . .but it just makes it look clunky. When you hold the G1 next to the iPhone, its very easy to figure out which device is made by Apple. I just don’t see Apple or Steve Jobs approving a device that looked like the G1.

I’m not sure what software will be running on the Quickfire. I would LOVE to see Google’s Andriod OS on it. I would imagine that it will come with Windows Mobile but again, I’m not really sure.

The Quickfire does have a touchscreen(i doubt it has multi-touch though) and it says something about auto-rotation(so maybe it has an accelerometer in it). The keyboard is where the device shines though. AT&T is hoping that with the full QWERTY keyboard it will make the Quickfire the ‘Sidekick killer’. I can totally see this, especially if they put the Android OS on it.

And if they don’t, maybe we’ll see a few hackers open the device and make it possible.
